2025 – Onwards and upwards

Welcome to the 2025 Golden Oldies season. After a successful year of Friday night over 35’s in 2024, complemented by the usual round of Sunday gala days, we are looking forward to a season full of fun, friendship, and fraternity. With the Penrith Emus senior clubs’ return to subbies rugby, there will be plenty of opportunities to gather and celebrate this great game in all its forms.

Friday night over 35s

Friday night lights in 2024 attracted a range of players from across the district and beyond. Dates for 2025 are in the planning stages. Keep an eye out on your emails, social media, or here for latest details. The plan is to again have roughly one Friday night game each month until September, in addition to the usual round of Sunday gala days the Legless Emus attend.

Each Friday night is run to a strict schedule: 6.30pm arrival, 7.00pm kickoff, 8.30pm speeches. This means those who need to get home due to kid’s activities on Saturday can be home at a reasonable hour. Or you can choose to hang around a bit longer and reminisce about that great side-step you put on to set up that try.

If you’re looking for a game that’s not too serious, come on down. Match fee is $5, which helps cover expenses e.g. physio. You must be a member of an over 35’s club to play (this ensures you have insurance coverage), so check out your local clubs to see what’s on offer.
